Artist's Statement

Painting feeds my soul and makes my heart sing!! I love exploration through color and texture in my work, especially EARTHSONG, which speaks to the rhythm of life and the global connectedness we share in the human spirit. My colorful, energetic and imaginative figures suggest our on-going dance, a dance with ever changing steps and tempo. We are one world on one journey, and, EARTHSONG is a joyful, and whimsical invitation to dance and sing, hand in hand. Painting this world tribe of happy figures brings me a smile and a sense of well-being!! I can almost hear them singing!! I love in- terpreting my world with my paintbrush in both traditional styles and in my bold, colorful abstracts!! Painting is an ongoing odyssey of discovery, a living Gestalt in my journey, a celebration of living!!

Artist's Resume

I am a self-taught artist whose eclectic artistic interests are gathered from life's experiences including the rugged landscapes

and shorelines of Newfoundland, the serene ambiance of Hawaii, and early childhood memories of my native Kentucky. The pristine mountain lakes of Northern California and the amazing beauty of the Central Pacific Coast and, The Heritage Valley right here at home greatly inspire my work!

I am a retired Registered Nurse, and hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science and Master of Arts in Education Administration. It is through my background in health and education that I have developed a strong interest in the healing properties of the arts, especially painting and music. I have taught beginning watercolor classes built around this interest, entitled "ART AND SOUL". As a musician and vocalist and cancer fighter, I have personally experienced the healing powers of the arts.

My artwork in watercolor, acrylic and mixed media has been exhibited in venues in Ventura County and Santa Barbara County.
